The word consequences just sounds like a downer to me. I mean when I hear it, my head immediately goes to the place of bad. Consequences are what happens when you make a bad decision, right? There are good and bad consequences of course, but for today, I just want to look at bad ones.
When you make a decision, how much do the potential “bad” consequences play into it? Think about it. Consciously or unconsciously, consequences can weigh our decisions. I believe it would be a better statement to say “should” weigh our decisions. Wisdom would be to consider the consequences before any decision. I don’t know about you, but I don’t always act wise...surprise!
Decisions made without consideration of the consequences have a high probability in creating one thing: regret. Why is it that we seem so unwilling to consider potential consequences? Because if you’re like me you might feel like you might be paralyzed and never do anything. Well that is what I used to think! But what I have discovered is that the problems happen when I don’t stop and consider consequences a lot more than when I do.
“The plans of the diligent lead surely to advantage, but everyone who is hasty comes surely to poverty.” Proverbs 21:5
So when is comes to considering consequences I go with the motto “Just Do It”...otherwise I have found my self in a different kind of do...get it?!
