When it comes to priorities, what does your list look like? I don’t know if your world is like mine, but there is so much going on all the time that prioritizing what I think is important gets lost in the urgent. When everything seems to be urgent, then nothing is. It seems that if I’m not careful, some days can just fly by without spending any time on what I say is most important to me.
Choice. It all comes down to choice. I know that if I want to spend time on what matters most to me, then I have to choose to do so. I have to always be asking myself “Is this where I want to invest my time right now?”. After all, we don’t spend time, we invest it. Every moment we have is a gift, and how we invest it will determine the return. We all invest time. The problem is that sometimes we invest it in somethings that are nothings...and that is a zero sum investment = anything times zero is still zero.
“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” 1 Peter 2:9 CSB
When it comes to choosing what matters most, our choice should be based on who we are, and who we want to be, and nothing about what we have or what we want to get. This way every moment can be invested with purpose.
